Drakensberg Hike 2022

It is time to rise! Time to shed the shackles of lockdown and venture out into the beautiful African mountains.

Imagine being able to hike to the top of the highest waterfall in the world (Tugela Falls at 927 m) and spend two nights on top of the Amphitheatre.  It is indeed the experience of a lifetime.  The Tugela Falls and Amphitheatre is one of the most beautiful sights in the world and something that should be on everyone’s bucket list.

From 19 to 21 March 2022, over the long weekend, we will execute this stunning hike.  On day 1 we will meet at Witsieshoek resort from where we will launch our hike.  After we get to the Sentinel Car Park, we will spend rest of the morning scaling the mountain where we ascend via the famous chain ladders.  That afternoon, after setting up camp, we will spend on the plateau above the waterfall and swim in the highest pool in Africa.  On day 2 we will be doing a traverse of the Amphitheatre, visiting the famous Echo Canyon and walking around towards Mount Amery.  We will also scale Mount Aux Sources, the famous origin of South Africa’s three largest river systems. Finally, on day 3, we will retrace our steps, descent the mountain and return to Witsieshoek.  This is an unforgettable experience.

This event is open to anyone who are able and capable of climbing the chain ladders.  During this event we focus on self activation, helping people to re-gain the perspective on their lives and launch the next phase of life.  Participants will re-visit the qualities and values needed to be successful and will benefit greatly from this event.  We do rent out tents, hiking bags, sleeping bags and gas stoves for participants who do not have these things.

Difficulty: B (Where A is very easy and C is very difficult).
